Facility Needs:

The Manna Soup Kitchen is experiencing some growing pains as a result of increase in community demand and an increase in community support to meet that demand.  Parking space is a big issue for us as is the need for a larger pantry and staging area for incoming and outgoing donations.  Despite the growth in clientele and expansion of services provided, Manna’s strategic planning session validated our thoughts that Manna’s best option was to stay in its current building and make it function optimally through remodeling rather than move to a new larger location.   In order to meet the increase in clients and services the BOD building committee identified areas of necessary growth in order to keep our facility functional and prioritized them.

We have taken the first steps in making our facility more functional by moving the E.D.’s office out of the pantry area and into a new enclosed office in the “front of the house”.  Showers have been upgraded and made to ADA specs and new partitions for privacy have been installed.   The pantry staging area remodel is being bid out currently and will be completed in 2010.

The BOD has established a building committee and that committee is in the preliminary stages of meeting with the City Planning Department and discussing parking plans based on the three-year strategic plan. Our current parking lot is small and has only 18 spaces.  Parking doesn’t come close to accommodating the 100+ clients, staff and volunteers that grace this premises daily.

Planned Giving

Many of you make donations throughout the year to Manna Soup Kitchen. While all donations are certainly welcome and appreciated, we at Manna Soup Kitchen would like you to consider giving in a different way, at a more substantial level.

Planned giving allows you to use other resources that maybe you had not considered; e.g. your life insurance, surplus real estate, stocks and securities or other investments that may incur substantial taxes should you liquidate.

To make sure your will accomplishes your goals according to your wishes, we recommend that you obtain the professional counsel of an attorney who specializes in estate planning.

Manna currently has two funds to support future needs, you may arrange to leave a "legacy" to Manna Soup Kitchen. Call Manna at (970) 385-5095 or Director@MannaSoupKitchen.org for more information and an application that illustrates different giving avenues available
